There were very few athletes in action yesterday, but the athletes that did compete were fantastic. Alice Flanagan and Lauren Boyle U10 put in solid performances but were just out of the medals as was Ciaran Connolly U11. Boys U13 Conall Hayes and Patrick Flanagan were flying in their 200m and it was a close call on the line with Conall being declared 3rd, with Patrick 4th. Congratulations lads. The Senior Womens shot was competitive, so I think I'll have to train! as I was 4th.
The u14boys medley relay was certainly a show stopper, Conall Hayes ran the first 200m in great style and handed over to Conor Kiely, they lads were in third place when Conor handed the batton over to Patrick. Patrick had a flying 100m and handed it to his brother Sean. Sean had a lot to do but had 400m to do it and by god did he do it. Sean took off like a hare and chased down competition from St Coca's and then off the final bend he chased down Celbridge and went ahead to take Gold for Le Cheile. Pure brilliance! Congratulations boys.
Julie Boyle and Holly Fagan were also in action in the U17 200m, Julie finished in 3rd place with Holly in 4th. The girls also competed in the U18 Long jump, Julie finished in 3rd place with Holly in 4th.
Conor Murphy U17 was in action, and it was a great day for Conor. Conor lead the 1500m from start to finish and took Gold. He also competed in the 100m and took Gold. He should have stopped there but I think the excitement of seeing Sean Flanagan run the last 400m of the relay got to him and he decided to have a go at the 400m himself. Conor ran the 400m in fine style and won. So a triple Kildare Champion - 100m,400m & 1500m. Congratulations
Thanks to all the parents for their support, well done to everyone who competed.
